Psychotherapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, Texas.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University and have been working with clients since 2017. My job roles have always been in the field of human and social services, and have included providing counseling and case management, as well as intake coordination for both non-profits and private wellness clinics.
I have an extensive background in yoga, dance and contemplative-based movement practices. I lived and served at Kripalu Yoga Center in 2002 and 2004, where I also completed a 200 hr yoga teaching training program.
Counseling has always been a calling of mine, going as far back as early adolescence. I was that friend who would provide heartfelt listening and compassionate feedback when those closest to me were going through distressing times. Growing up with mental illness in my family also had a huge impact on my own mental health and laid the groundwork for me becoming highly attuned to the emotional states of others. I was lucky enough to have parents that recognized my empathic and sensitive nature and who brought me to therapy at an early age.
Life is not a clear and straight path for most of us and I have been no exception. It took me nearly 15 years after graduating from college before making the choice to pursue my master’s in counseling! While I knew for certain I wanted to work directly with people, I often felt lost and somewhat dissatisfied by the roles I was serving in. It was through my own therapy that I began to build more confidence about my innate gifts and gained the clarity to pursue a career in psychotherapy.
